Joseph Woodson named in the will of his father, John Woodson III (attached), and the will of his mother, Mary (Tucker) Woodson, 1710 will, and the will of his step-grandfather, John Pleasants' 1690 will.
Note: there were multiple Joseph Woodson's, Mary Woodson's, John Woodson's & Robert Woodson's in each generation.
There is published documentation for Joseph Woodson that states that he had three wives: Mary Sanburne (Sanbourne), Elizabeth Scott and Elizabeth Murr(a)y (and there are trees which have two other women as 2nd/3rd wives). The children of his wives were: Sanbourne Woodson, son of Mary; Mary Woodson, daughter of Elizabeth Scott; John, Lucy, Joseph, Tucker and Elizabeth Woodson, children of Elizabeth Murry.
It appears that wife 1, Mary, was still alive in 1710 when her mother-in-law's will was written; she refers to "my grandson, Sanbourn, son of my son Joseph and my daughter Mary" and she made a bequeath to the child Mary "now goes with". There are no other references to this unborn child & it is presumed to have died at childbirth or shortly after; Mary may have died in childbirth or shortly after.
Wife 2, Elizabeth Scott, would have had her daughter after wife 1 died (about 1711/12).
Wife 3, Elizabeth Murray was married to Joseph before her father's 1724 will was written (therefore, married 1715 to 1720) and their five children were born from 1716 to 1730. We know Joseph Jr was deceased by 1752 and had a son named John; therefore Joseph Jr born by 1723; and Tucker had children in the 1760s.
Comments
There are two Lucy Woodson's attached as the daughter of Elizabeth Murry and one died as a child and the other is listed as born before parents were likely married and with a husband and children. Records indicate that Lucy probably died young because no records have been found to date. If records have been found, a document or sources should be attached, but are not. It is likely that one of Joseph's siblings may have had a daughter named Lucy and that she is the one who married and had children. In addition, two daughters have been added as sisters to Joseph, when the wills of his parents make it clear that Jane Woodson was their "eldest and sole daughter". PLEASE DO NOT MAKE CHANGES, ALTERATIONS OR ADDITIONS TO A TREE UNLESS DOCUMENTATION AND EVIDENCE IS PROVIDED. "Legacy Sources" should include the data/information and source, not just 'transferred from Ancestry.com'; any URL provided should link to the actual source, not to ancestry.com because those just take familysearch patrons to a "sign up and pay page" rather than a document.
