Josephine D. Baldwin

Josephine D. Black, dau. of Horace Black and Betsey Joy, was born Feb. 1843 in Vermont; married with EDWIN S. BALDWIN, s/o Sewall Baldwin and Rebecca Hyde, .in Putney, Vt. on Feb.24,1863. They resided for a while in Putney before moving to Marlboro, New Hampshire. By 1900 they had moved to Newton City, Kansas and then, in 1910, to Wichita, Kansas. After his death (prob in Kansas between 1910-1920), Josephine moved to, and was living with their daughter Ada (Baldwin) Weber, in San Bernardino, California.

Children were: Carrie J.(b 1865 Vt) and Ada Marie (b.9/11/1876 NH)

• 1850 census: Josephine Black, (8) in Putney, Vt. with parents (Horace and Betsey) and sibs. Father is a farmer.
• 1850 census B..it is interesting to note that Josephine Black resides close to Jeduthan Baldwin in Putney. He, is father of Sewall Baldwin and grandfather of her future husband Edwin S. Baldwin. He resides at his dau. Rebecca's res.
• 1863 marriage record: Josephine D. Black m. Edwin S. Baldwin in Putney, Vt on 2/24/1863. She is dau. of Horace & Betsey Black.
• 1870 census: Josephine (27) in Putney,Vt w husband Edward S. (read Edwin S.) aged 32) and dau. Carrie (5). She b. Vt., husband b. Mass., dau. b. Vt.
• 1880 census: Josephine D. (37) and Edward S.(read Edwin S.) ,aged 43; in Marlboro, NH. She b. Vt, he is Mass. Also their daus. Carrie J. (15) and Ada M. (3).
• 1900 census: Josephine D. (57; b. 2/1843 Vt) w husband Edward/Edwin (62; b. 11.1838 Mass.) in Newton City, Kansas. Also there are dau. Ada M. (aged 23,b 9/1876 NH) and her husband Charles W. Weber (aged 26,b. 12/1873 Ohio) and their son Edward H. (aged 3m, b. 2/1900 Kansas).'She is listed as being married for 37 years (1900-37=1863; the year Josephine D. Black m. Edwin S. Baldwin)'
