Joshua Atherton

Joshua Atherton was a soldier in King Philip's War, under Capt.Henchman of Boston, Dec. 20, 1675. He returned to Lancaster with his family in 1687, where he was a farmer and tanner. He settled at Still River in Harvard, then part of Lancaster, where he was in garrison

April 15, 1704. His will, dated Feb. 20, 1719-20, proved June 16, 1721 names his wife; two younger sons minors, John and Peter; his four sons Joseph, Benjamin, John and Peter; his son Joshua; his honored father, James Atherton, deceased; the son Joseph was to maintain his brother Stephen, and his daughter Hannah was to be maintained by Benjamin.
