This generation may have originated in VA. NOT PROVEN THAT HE IS THE FATHER
Per Robbie Moye in her database on FamilySearch: Joshya was b. 1735 VA. Source World Family Tree Vol.1, Ed. 1 for Marriage and death dates.
From "Let's Meet the Gore's" by B. Otis Prince.
"Among the early settlers of the Gore family who settled first in the upper Duplin County, North Carolina area was JOSHUA GORE, who is reported by the Florida Gore Family to have come to this area from Virginia. However, it is a probability that this group of Gores came in the migration from Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania. From the files of Mrs. Edith Holley Henderson, Joshua is reputed to have come from Virginia. There has been no definite proof of the actual location of the forparents of these early Gores.
The Gore Family is known in general for their energy, thriftiness, resourcefulness, initiative, fortitude, and ability to lead. Members of the family have displayed outstanding ability as Statesmen, merchants, soldiers, scientists, inventors, and writers."
"It appears that the earliest forparent of the Gore Family settled in the Seven Creeks are of Columbus Co, NC.. This family came to the Seven Creeks area from Duplin and Sampson Country, North Carolina shortly after the Revolution. There were three brothers in this new settlement. John R. Gore, whose oldest son settled with his uncle in the Seven Creeks Section, remained in Duplin County. (From "Let's Meet the Gore's" pp. 9-10)
From "Genealogy of the Gore Family; Early Settlers of Virginia and North Carolina" by Oliver Aden Gore. There is evidence that Joshua Gore had established residence along the frontier, about one hundred miles west of Edenton, subsequent to 1700. In the records of early births of North Carolina is noted the birth of the three sons of Joshua Gore.
