He was a pew holder in 1734 and was a Road Commissioner. (Brodie's History of Williamsburg, pgs 53 and 208.) In 1721, he was a justice of the peace for Berkeley Cty., appointed by Gov. Nicholson. In 1731 he was elected a vestryman of Prince Frederick's church. He was" the Enquirer and Collector of Taxes" for the parish of St. Denis in 1715 and 1716.
