About Juan Luis Luján Jiménez, II

Juan and his brother, Francisco Lujan, were involved in the Rosas murder affair, but escaped the carnal execution of their less fortunate compatriots.



Juan Luján II was active in the political intrigues of Governor Rosa's times and after. He was a captain and Alcalde Mayor of the Taos-Picurís district. He was a brother in law of Francisco Gómez, and a kinsman of Pedro Lucero. In 1661, he had an estancia in Taos Valley, and was known as "El Viejo" in relationship to Juan Luján, his son. His daughter was María, who was the wife of Juan de Archuleta.
