ELDER JOSEPH5 COE (Elder Joseph4, Josephs3, Benjamin2,Robert 1), born at Hanover, NJ, Sept. 30, 1738, as only son was appointed administrator of his father's estate May 4, 1761 (New Jersey Admons., vol. G, p. 373); and in the same year sold his father's farm in Middlesex County to John Herriot. (New Jersey Deeds, vol. 32, p. 158.) Later he removed to Washington County, PA, where he was an elder in the Redstone Presbytery as early as 1781, and where he is listed in the US Census of 1790 as head of a family of one male over sixteen years, one male under sixteen years, and three females.

On Apr. 18, 1796, he was warrantee of 339 acres in Washington County, and on Apr. 22, 1817, he deeded his farm at Ten Mile, Washington County, PA, to his son Benjamin Coe, and died near Amity, PA, Feb. 11, 1825.

He married first, Sept. 12, 1762, ABIGAIL MOONE of Rockaway, NJ, born Feb. 22, 1740, died Oct. 9, 1796. He married second, May 12, 1797, ABIGAIL DAY, widow, who died Jan. 6, 1806. He married third, May 13, 1807, JERIIMA HATHAWAY, widow, who died July 7, 1809.
