Surnames: Goble, Malitiah

I have a wrinkle to offer. My aunt who was doing research long before computers let alone the internet had in her notes that one of the early GOBLE men in our line married a Native American. The only name that offers a possiblity is Mary Malitiah. Can anyone suggest another derivation for this name or supprt the idea that it is native? Given the history in the area and with Roberts grandfather (is it?) being hung for killing a friendly indian after his mother, step father and sister

were killed by indians it would make a facinating story.
