About Judge Thomas Jesse Wharton, Sr
A graduate of the University of Nashville, he was a lawyer practicing in Clinton, then Raymond, then Jackson, and was later appointed circuit judge in Mississippi. He served Mississippi as attorney general from 1857 until 1865 when removed under Reconstruction measures.
He was married to the former Mary T. Edgar of Nashville, and they had nine children. They lived at 404 N. President Street in Jackson.
