About Judith "Judah" Lastinger

Children of John and Ann Thompson were:

7. Judith / Judah THOMPSON, b. 29 Jun 1798, GA; m1. 28 Oct 1813, Marion Co., MS, Robert BOND (1792-1849); m2. 2 Jul 1851, Harrison Co., MS, John L. LASTINGER (c1801- )

It is said John Thompson’s will indicates one son and five daughters still living, plus grandson William THOMPSON (s/o Archibald) and granddaughter Delaney WEST. Based on the latter, it appears our subject had a daughter who had married a WEST and was deceased by 1839. Or perhaps one of the other daughters had remarried and died before 1839

Robert and Judith took one of the earliest herds of Longhorns from Flint Creek MS to Smith County TX:

"Robert Bond who was Grandpa's youngest son and Aunt Judith Thompson and part of his family followed us to Indie, Mississippi in his Wagon. Even though he was married to Aunt Judith Thompson, which qualified him for a Land Patent in Hancock County, Miss. He did not file for a Land Patent and built a House about 200 feet beside where Grandpa's House was built.

Uncle Robert bought some Cattle from dad in 1827. Uncle Robert and Tarleton were Partners in the Herd of Longhorn Cattle. They had been selling their 2 Year old Steers, old Bulls and Cows every 2 years at Mobile, Alabama.

Aunt Judith Thompson's Parents had moved to Smith, Texas and were sending her Letters about the Area around there and had written that there was plenty of Green Grass there and small Oak Shade Trees.

After Grandpa died in 1837, Uncle Robert Deeded his son Tarleton Bond 5 Acres and his House and gave him $1,000.00 to give him a start in life. Then Uncle Robert and the Slaves that he Inherited from Grandpa drove half of the herd of Longhorn Cattle to Smith, Texas."
