

Based on genetic testing of a female-line descendant, her mtDNA haplogroup was H5a. Her mother's maiden name and town of birth were unknown.
On June 6, 1849, Julia married William Town in Dorset, Bennington County, Vermont. The marriage was performed by Philander Lackey. Together, they had at least eight, and possibly nine, children:
There is a mention in one of Julia's widow's pension affidavits that she had six children before the war and three after, but no other record of the child has been found.
