Julius was brought to Dachau on 12 Nov 1938, where he was imprisoned for 10 days. In 1939, Julius and Gretchen attempted to flee the Third Reich. They were unable to escape despite the fact that Julius’s sister Sidonie in Jerusalem had vouched for them. On 05 Aug 1939, the Nazis transferred Julius and Gretchen to Augsburg. In Augsburg, they were subjected to forced labor until their deportation in 1943 to Auschwitz, where they were exterminated.
