TREKKING IN MIZORAM
To all members of SEPPA (St. Edmund's Past Pupils Assocn.) of the Upper Assam chapters I would like to express my thanks for presenting me the "Outstanding Seppan 2019" Award. And to all Seppans present at the ceremony in Aizwal I would request to excuse me for having asked whether it was a farewell gift.
One of the things that was at the back of my mind was an incident that happened at the previous day's event. After reaching the Peak of the Reiek Mountain at an altitude of about 5,000 feet, I had spread the hotel towel, which I had carried with me, on the tall grass beside the shoulder of the rugged road, and lied down to take a little rest. I covered my face with the backpack as the mid-day sun was quite strong. While I was enjoying taking deep breaths of the fresh mountain air, a few tourists (perhaps Seppans also) were passing by. I could hear one of them asking my guide Francis Laldawngela, "Has someone died ?" Another anxiously enquired, "Is he breathing?" Please see a few photos taken by Francis, attached.
My 83rd birthday falls on 19th February. Friday, 8th February, 2019 was a happy trekking day for me. Looking forward, God willing, to a replay on Friday, 7th February, 2020 at the "Back to Nature!" Meet at Pasighat, Arunachal.
