THIRD GENERATION
Ole Jacobson
14 Ole, the son of Jacob Guttormson (Berge) Bjøraaker (3) and Anna Olsdtr. Gram, was born on July 24, 1844 on the Bjøraaker farm in Lærdal Township, Sogn og Fjordane County, Norway. He emigrated with his parents on April 14, 1866. Ole’s parents joined the Greenwood Church about 1868. Ole was married on August 19, 1870 at his home in Greenwood to Kari Einarsdtr. Nelson. The witnesses were Gutorm Einarsen (Kari's brother-in-law; Ole’s first cousin) and Anders Johnson (Ole's brother-in-law) (Greenwood Church record). Kari, the daughter of Einar Nelson Kvame and Guri Paalsdtr. Sprakehaugen, was born on August 1, 1850 in Lærdal Township, Sogn og Fjordane County, Norway. Ole’s nephew, Jacob Guttormson Hegg, married Kari’s younger sister, Johanna. Ole’s first cousin, Goodrich/Guttorm Erickson, married Kari’s older sister, Randi. In 1874 and 1876, Ole used the name Ole Jacobsen Bjoragor. He also went by Ole Jacobson, Sr. Ole Jacobson, 36, b. Norway, a farmer, is listed as head of household # 161/161 in the 1880 census for Greenwood Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin with his wife, Clara, 30, b. Norway, keeping house, sons, John, 8, b. WI, Edward, 6, b. WI, daughters, Anna, 4, b. WI, Gerte, 4/12, b. Jan 1880 in WI, and mother, Annie Jacobson, 74, b. Norway, labors in house. The census was enumerated on June 21 & 22, 1880. In 1896, they were farming 160 acres (section 27, 80 acres; section 26, 80 acres). Ole Jacobson, 55, b. July 1844 in Norway, married 30 years, emig, 1866, a farmer, is listed as head of household # 204/205 in the 1900 census for Greenwood Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin with his wife, Carrie, 49, b. Aug 1850 in Norway, married 30 years, 10 pregnancies, 9 living children, emig 1855, son, Eddie, 26, b. Jan 1874 in WI, single, daughters, Gertie, 20, b. Jan 1880 in WI, single, Carrie, 17, b. Mar 1883 in WI, single, at school, sons, Ole, 15, b. Feb 1885 in WI, at school, Peter, 12, b. Dec 1887 in WI, at school, daughter, Martha, 9, b. Oct 1890 in WI, at school, and son, Carley, 7, b. Jan 1893 in WI, at school. Ole owned a mortgaged farm. Ole died on October 29, 1906 and was buried in Greenwood on November 1, 1906. Carrie Jacobson, 59, b. Nor, a widow, 10 pregnancies, 9 living children, is listed as head of household # 20/20 in the 1910 census for Greenwood Township, Vernon County, Wisconsin with daughter, Caroline, 27, b. WI, single, son, Peter, 22, b. WI, single, a farmer, daughter, Martha, 19, b. WI, a private family servant, and son, Carl, b. WI, single, a farm laborer on the home farm. The census was enumerated on April 16, 1910. In 1920 and 1930, Carrie was living on a farm in Greenwood Township with her son, Ole, and his family. Kari died on September 2, 1934 at the age of 84 and was buried in Greenwood on September 5, 1934 (GCR). Children: 59 John Olaus, b. July 4, 1871, Greenwood Twp, Vernon Co, WI; bp.
