B) In the Polish Officers Yearbook 1924 ("Rocznik Oficerski", Warszawa, p. 298), a HECHTER Karol (1872)" is mentioned as infantry captain.

D) He was a "cousin" of his wife, Lili Hechter (source: Glatman and Zborowski, 1995)
Remark: In priciple, they even could have been first degree cousins. The WELNER genealogy on the Krakow family trees on website of Dan Hirschberg (http://www.ics.uci.edu/%7Edan/genealogy/Krakow/Families/Mandelberg....) shows an example: 1914 (banns, #133) / 1916 (#214) married to cousins:
Mojzesz Dawid PERLMAN, son of Malka, née WELNER, married Chaje Reisel WELNER, daughter of Aron Jozef WELNER. Malka and Aron had the same mother and father, the same as Milka WELNER, mother of Natan SILBERZWEIG. The fact, that Karol’s father Henryk ans Lili’s father Karol Daniel both have been born in Nowa wieś endorses the family reports about a blood relation.

- 1921: District IV, tom. V, nr. 6316, ul. Krupnicza 12 [nr. 7], born 9.12.1872 in Kraków (but not in Jewish birth records of Kraków), in Kraków since 1887. In the 1921 census, these are the only Hechters (Karol, Lilly, and Henryk), there is also no separate mentioning of a Hechter at the end of the book. His son Henryk is mentioned to be born in Kraków (which is also not true, as he was born in Vienna).

Remark: In 1913 and 1914 he appears together with L.H. Hechter and has (more or less) the same telehone number. In 1914, Karol is named as entrepreneur for construction works, Therefore, it can be deduced that also the 1913 mentioned one was theentreprneur for construction works.

N) Maybe he was the "Kalme" HECHTER who was buried on the Kraków cemetery (ul. Miodowa), section 8, row 4, grave 1 (page 77, sort 73; no year given) [acc. JRI] and not his father in law? this would coincides with the fact that, acc. to JRI, the New Cemetery Burial Register covers only the years 1922-1939 and 1945-1961. Only for the latter, a date of death is given.

O) Obviously, he was a stamp collector, as an “Ing. Hechter” is mentioned in an article about the first Polish stamps in the former Austrian part of the country (http://www.google.de/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=r..., p.4): The article was finished in 1927, and the author, Prof. Stanislaus Mikstein, thanks Ing. Hechter for letting him study his stamp collection. Hechter is mentioned to be member of the commission for authentication of the Philatelists’ Society of Kraków.
