Katharina Gadow

Her father was Prof. Eugen Rey of Halle, Leipzig and Berlin. He was a Natural Scientist an Astromomer and an Entomologist in the late 19th century. He was my great great grandfather. His daughter, Katinka (Kathë) Rey was my great grandmother and she died in Cape Town South Africa in 1956. He had four other daughters:

Margareta born 1864 in Halle,

Adelaide born 1868 in Halle,  Anita born 1875 in Halle  Wanda born 1877 in Leipzig.  He had one son, Eugen Jean Eduard Rey, born 8 February 1866 in Halle. I have found a reference to him on your site.  I have heard that they came from France and fled to Germany during the Huguenot persecutions and that the name might originally have been de la Rey. I have also heard that the family originally came from Spain where they were related the the Spanish royal family.
