About Katie Gingerich

GINGERICH, Katie - Katie Gingerich, 93, formerly of RR1, Shakespeare, passed away, in the Maples Home for Seniors, Tavistock, on Thursday, March 2, 2006. She was born in East Zorra Township on November 29, 1912 a daughter of the late John and Barbara (Baechler) Ruby. She was a member of Tavistock Mennonite Church, had worked for several years at Kroehler Furniture Mfg. Ltd in Stratford and has been known by many as "A Great Lady". She married Henry Gingerich on June 22, 1932. He predeceased her on August 11, 1988. Katie is survived by three sons, Carl and wife Betty Gingerich of RR1, Shakespeare; Franklin Gingerich and companion Dita of Dixonville, Alberta, Ray and wife Joyce Gingerich of Edmonton, Alberta; one daughter, Kathryn Ann and husband Chuck Herold of RR1, Shakespeare; her daughter-in-law Joan Gingerich of Cranbrook, B.C.; her sister, Edna Gingerich as well as being loved by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Robert Gingerich (2004); brothers and sisters-in-law, Amos and Marion Ruby, Manuel and Mabel Ruby, Henry and June Ruby, Andrew Ruby and Sylvester Ruby; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann and Aaron Gerber, Eudora and Wilmer Bender, Rudy Gingerich and Hartman Gingerich. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock, on Saturday, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A graveside committal service ill be held at the East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery, 16th line on Sunday, March 5, 2006 at 1 p.m. which will be followed by the funeral service in Tavistock Mennonite Church at 2 p.m. Pastors Glenn Zehr and Will Loewen will officiate. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Building Fund of Tavistock Mennonite Church would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home by calling 655-2431
