Kerie A. Rooney March 25, 1969 ~ July 12, 2020

Kerie A. Rooney, 51, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will not be a funeral mass. A memorial visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2020 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A graveside service will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Calvary Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at Blue Ribbon Tap beginning at 11 A.M.

Kerie was born the daughter of John and Margaret (Berens) Rooney on March 25, 1969 in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended St. Boniface grade school, graduated from Heelan High School, and attended Western Iowa Tech. Kerie married William Worden on May 24, 1991 in Sioux City and they were married for 24 years. Kerie worked for Miller Liquor for many years and was also a co-owner of Bennett’s Motel.

She was a loving and caring mother to more than just her own, always putting family first. She was known for sharing her opinion, and her adventurous spirit. She loved traveling with her friends and family, especially her most recent camping trips with her aunt. She enjoyed her Sunday Fundays with her Miller Liquor girls. She was an avid herbal connoisseur and Green Bay Packers fan. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Kerie is survived by her daughter, Katie (Jeff) Dye of Sioux City and their daughter, Kassidy; her son, Cody (Kayla) Worden of Sioux City and their daughter, Viola; brothers, Shane (Katrina Taylor) Rooney of Sioux City and Kelly (Emma) Rooney of McCook Lake; and nieces and nephews, Maggie Rooney, Molly Rooney, Mattie Rooney, Lexi Schweitzberger, Brennen Rooney, and Carley Rooney; aunts, uncles, many cousins, and great nieces & nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Rooney.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Siouxland & the June E Nylen Cancer Center.

We thank God for the gift of her life and the time spent with her. Words cannot express how truly blessed we are to have had her in our lives.
