Kurt Konrad, real name Kurt Beer (October 15, 1908 Třebíč [1] - September 25, 1941 Dresden) was a Czech Marxist journalist, literary and theater critic.

"Kurt Konrad was born into a German Jewish family, his father owned a sawmill and was a timber trader. In 1913 his family moved to Brno and there he graduated from high school (graduated in 1927). He studied medicine at the German University in Prague, but did not finish his studies in 1931. [2] He began to get involved politically, in 1928 he joined the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.

From 1930 to 1938 he worked in the journal Tvorba, also in Rudé právo (since 1930) and Haló noviny (1935–1938) as a commentator. [3] Then he joined the Soviet Embassy as a press attaché (among other things, he knew four world languages). He was also a collaborator of Julius Fučík.

In March 1941 he was arrested and imprisoned for his cooperation with the first illegal central leadership of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. His life ends in September 1941 in Dresden, where he committed suicide. It is reported [4] that he wrote his last words on the white tab of his pants; was: "I'm dying honestly."

Kurt Konrad, vlastním jménem Kurt Beer (15. října 1908 Třebíč – 25. září 1941 Drážďany) byl český marxistický novinář, literární a divadelní kritik.
