Anne Davenport

Anne Brereton was the daughter of Sir Richard Brereton, second son of Sir Randoll Brereton of Mallpas, and his wife, Jane, daughter and heir of William Stanley of Tatton.[1] Her father was also known as Sir Richard Brereton of Worsley.[2]

Anne was the sister of:

1. Richard, eldest brother, died without children;[1] and
2. Geffrey Brereton of Tatton, married Alice, daughter to PIers Lecester of Tabley;[1]

Anne was married twice, to:

1. __________ Bouthe of Barton,[1] or Boothe of Barton;[3] Ann and her husband, John Booth of Barton, esq,[2] were the parents of:
   1. John Boothe, of Barton upon Irwell, eldest son, died 1576, married 1) Anne, daughter of Richard Ashton of Middleton, Esq, and 2) Ellen, daughter of Sir Piers Legh of Lyme;[2]
2. Sir William Damport of Bromhall,[1] widower of Margaret, daughter of George Booth of Funham;[3] Anne and William had no children together.[3]

She was step-mother to William's children from his previous marriage:

1. William Damport of Bromhall, married Margery, daughter of Aston of Midleton, Lancashire;[3]
2. Elizabeth, who was married to Richard Ashton of Midleton, Lancashire;[3]
3. Jane;[3]
4. Katherine, who was married to Richard Bulkeley, son and heir of Sir Richard Bulkley of Beaumaris.[3]

So Anne's son and two of William's children married into the Ashton family of Middleton, Lancashire: John Booth, William Damport and Elizabeth Damport.

Anne was living on 5 August, 1571, when her son "John Boothe of Barton uppon Irwell within the Countie of Lancaster, Esquier," made his will, bestowing a black gown firstly to "my ladie my mother."[2]

Joan, his widow, afterwards married Sir Edward Pickering, in 1500, and lastly Sir John de Brereton, of Lea Hall, Cheshire, by whom she had one son, Philip, who died without issue. She was the daughter and heiress of Sir Geoffrey Masey. Her only child by her first husband was Jane, or Joan, the heiress of Tatton. She had two consorts. The first was John Ashton, son and heir of Sir Thomas Ashton, of Ashton, super Mersey, Cheshire ; she was then but eight years old ; he died young without issue by her, in 1511. Her second husband was Sir Richard Brereton, second son of Sir Randle Brereton IV., of Malpas.
• Sir Richard Brereton L, of Tatton, died in 1557, at Islington, London. He married Jane, daughter of Sir William Stanley, of Tatton; she died in 1570, aged seventy-seven. By her he had two sons and one daughter: 1. Richard, his heir; 2. Geoffrey; 3. Anne, wife of John Booth, of Barton, Lancashire.
