In the will of her father, Thomas Langton, citizen and Skinner of London[1], the will made on 28 Jun 1550 and proved on 25 Feb 1550/1551, Elizabeth Langton was listed fourth of his four daughters and she was bequeathed £500.
The mother of Elizabeth Langton, Mary (Mathew), subsequently married Sir Andrew Judde of London[2], and then James Altham of Latton, Essex[3], although whilst married to Altham she continued to be known as Lady Judde or Dame Mary Judde.
Elizabeth Langton married firstly John Reynolds of Gray's Inn (date and place unknown). In his will made on 23 Nov 1567 and proved on 04 Mar 1567/1568[4] John Reynolds made bequests to his wife Elizabeth and his daughter Mary Reynolds. His Executors included his 'father in law' Mr James Altham, his 'brother' John Barne and Master William Winter.
Elizabeth then married Sir William Morgan (date and place unknown)[5].
Sir William Morgan died in 1583 and it appears that he and Elizabeth had no surviving children as his heir was his niece Anne, daughter of his brother Henry Morgan[5][7].
In the will of her mother, Lady Judde, the will made on 20 Feb 1596/1597 and proved on 19 Feb 1601/1602[8], the Testatrix made a bequest to her 'daughter Morgan'. However, it is likely that the Testatrix was referring to her granddaughter Elizabeth (Winter) Morgan (and that Elizabeth (Langton) Morgan may therefore have predeceased her mother). Lady Judde also made bequests to her granddaughter Mary Derehaugh and to her great granddaughter Mary Derehaugh (Mary Reynolds the daughter of Elizabeth Langton and John Reynolds had married William Derehaugh)[9].
It was suggested[10] that the daughter of Sir Andrew Judde and his third wife Mary Mathew was Elizabeth who married Sir William Morgan of Pencoed. However, this was an error, the daughter of Sir Andrew Judde and Mary Mathew being Martha Judde who married Robert Goldinge. The entry for Sir William Morgan in the History of Parliament[5] perpetuates the error of Elizabeth being the daughter of Sir Andrew Judde, as does the paper by Miller.
