Countess Margaret's son, the 2nd Duke of Buckingham, became "Kingmaker" for putting Richard III of York on the throne of England. However, Buckingham was born a Stafford and a Beaufort, and typical of the times of the War of the Roses, he then plotted to return Henry (Beaufort) Tudor from exile to replace Richard III as king. Five months after Richard III was crowned he executed the Duke of Buckingham for his plot.
