LaForrest was a life member of the Macedonia Masonic Lodge, Milton, MA and a former sexton of the First Baptist Church.

He was a Veiled Prophet in good standing who was honorably discharged from the Taleb Grotto of Quincy, MA on 23 October 1962.

They threw a party for Bob Smith after Pearl Harbor and the whole family attended...it made the papers. Even my mom was there
