CUYAHOGA FALLS Laila M. Goldwood, 91, died Nov. 18, 2002.
Laila was born in Camanche, Iowa, and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls most of her life, graduating from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1929. She retired in 1976 from the Sherwin Williams headquarters office in Cleveland as a secretary in research and development after 20 years. She had previously been employed by Miller Rubber and B.F. Goodrich. After retirement she had volunteered for one year and worked for 10 years with the Senior Workers Action Program in Akron. She had been a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Baptist Church since 1921, where she had been active in various areas and was a lifetime deaconess.
She is survived by her sisters, Urma Grinder of Cuyahoga Falls and Joyce (Dean F.) Haberkost of Brevard, N.C.; sister-in-law, Peggy Goldwood of Akron, 11 nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and -neph ews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, George L. and Winnie L. Goldwood; sisters, Lucille O. Goldwood and Norma M. Roxbury; brother, Dwight Leroy Goodwood; and special friend, William Ruggles.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cuyahoga Falls Baptist Church, 1601 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221, Rev. Malcolm Hall officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 9 a.m. Satur day at the church. Final resting place Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cuyahoga Falls Baptist Church.
