Laura Jean Cannon

Laura Jean "Jeanie" Cannon, 80, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away August 15, 2015, at her home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 19th at 11:00 AM at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Avenue, De Soto, Kansas. Visitation will be held Wednesday August 19, 2015, from 10-11:00 AM at the Chapel. Graveside Services Prairie Center Cemetery, Eudora, Kansas. Per her request, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Benevolence Fund at Life Mission Church, 16111 S Lone Elm Rd, Olathe, Kansas, 66062.

Jeanie was born July 7, 1935 in Lawrence, Kansas. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1953. She loved camping, fishing, traveling and spending time with family. Her independent mind and hard will would not keep her from completing her goals. She raised her family in De Soto, Kansas, and drove the school bus for many years. She moved to Olathe in 1984 and retired from JC Penney. She belonged to the Life Mission Church in Olathe. She loved the Lord and is happy to be home with Jesus.

She is preceded in death by: parents Herbert and Faye Gordon [Steed]; brothers Alan and David Gordon; grandson Michael H Armstrong. Survivors include: son Robert Cannon of Quinimo, Kansas; daughters Betty (Tom) Painter of Osawatomie, Kansas, Debbie (Gary) Kerfes of Paola, Kansas, Cathy (Randy) Bergstrom of Bonner Springs, Kansas, and Cindy Cannon of Olathe, Kansas; brothers Jerry Gordon of Pharr, Texas, Herbert Ray Gordon of Ellijay, Georgia, and Howard Roy Gordon of Ringold, Louisiana; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren that she loved dearly. Jeanie will be loved and missed by all.
