Laura (Dori) Libesny (Liebesny)

Laura Siebenschein was an out-of-wedlock daughter of Lazar Siebenschein (1808-1871) and Barbara [aka Veronika] Reich (1802-1846). She was born in Hranice [formerly Mahr. Weisskirchen] on 5 Oct 1839. Her mother died before she was seven years of age, and it is likely that she was raised by relatives of her paternal grandmother, Zibilia (Zerkowitz) Siebenschein.

She likely went by the surname Reich, but later, following her removal to Vienna, was known as Laura Siebenschein. As "Dori Siebenschein", she was married in 1866 to Leopold Liebesny.

Her marriage record has caused some genealogical confusion. It correctly lists her father as Lazar Siebenschein, but her mother's name is given as "Veronika Zerkowitz". This was most certainly an error. As noted above, Zerkowitz was the maiden name of her paternal grandmother, and it is probable that Laura grew up in a Zerkowitz household. Given the early death of her mother, it is possible that Laura may not have known her own mother's surname. Extensive research has confirmed that there was no individual in the Zerkowitz family -- around this time period -- by the given name of Veronika.
