Lazar Siebenschein

Lazar Siebenschein was likely named in honor of his mother's uncle, Lazar Kohn-Zerkowitz, a jeweler, who was murdered near Trencin, Hungary [now Slovakia] a short time before his birth.

It appears that Lazar Siebenschein never married. When he died in Vienna in 1871, he was listed as "ledig", meaning single. From 1835 to 1843, he fathered six out-of-wedlock children by a woman named Barbara Reich [aka "Veronika Reich"]. She was the daughter of Abraham Reich of Hranice. She died in Hranice on 2 June 1846 in her 44th year of age.

[The entry on his daughter Laura's marriage record indicating that her mother was "Veronika Zerkowitz" was almost certainly an error. Zerkowitz was the maiden name of Laura's grandmother, not her mother.]
