Daughter of Robert Marion and Minerva Norton Spalding, Rolla was born in Ralls County, Missouri on 10/4/1859 and lived in Hannibal, Missouri. She never married. After the death of her mother in 1896, she was the constant companion and helper of her father who survived more than 20 additional years. She lead a very beautiful life of sacrifice, service, and devotion to her relatives and friends.
