Robert Marion Spalding I

Son of Benjamin Aaron I and Matilda Hager Spalding, he was born in Marion County, Kentucky on November 6, 1822 and moved with his parents to Ralls County, Missouri in 1828. He was married to Minerva Jane Norton in Ralls County, Missouri on January 27, 1847. She was the daughter of Thomas Patterson and Rachel Robertson Norton and was born in Ralls County, Missouri on August 20, 1826.

Their 7 children were all born in Ralls County, Missouri.

Robert Marion I and his wife were very prominent, influential, and highly respected citizens, extensively engaged in farming and stock-raising in the Salt River Valley and in operating a hotel and health resort at Spalding Mineral Springs. He died 11/2/1916 at the age of 94. His wife died 3/6/1896.
