Lawrence James Swope, Sr

Lawrence Swope (1742-1794) and Ann (1746-1799) were born in Leacock Township, Lancaster County, PA. He is probably the Lawrence Swope who served in Jonathan Hager's company in the Frederick County, Maryland militia during the French and Indian War. The family settled in Trough Creek Valley, Union Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania which was Bedford County, Dublin Township. They were there by 1773.

Birth 1742 in Leacock, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Death 16 Aug 1794 in Trough Creek Valley, Union, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, USA.

His father immigrated in 1720 from Leimen, Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany and married his second wife, Lawrence's mother, Catharine Elizabeth Graff (Grove) in 1742 the same year Lawrence was born.

His father immigrated from Germany with his father and brothers and they settled in Lancaster County. He was asked escort Anna's mother back to Huntingdon County after she was visiting Lancaster Coutny. He met her daughter, Anna Grove, fell in love, and stayed.

He married Anna Grove b. 1749 – d. 1800. They had the following children:
