About Leopold (Leo) Theodoor Keesing

Leo and Marie Feiwel (Mimi) married 29 Dec 1940 Amsterdam, daughter of Machiel Feiwel and Regina Marcus. Leopold was a publisher and succeeded his father as the Director of Keesing Systemen. During World War II, he served in the Dutch Military Service. In New York he was employed at the Royal Netherlands Steamship Company in the KNSM Office. He was offered a stay on after the war but decided to return to the family firm in Holland. He produced the Youth Editions of the Historical Archives and other new language courses for the firm, He and his two youngest sons are the last Keesings in Holland. He did a lot of Jewish social work because he resented emancipation, which meant he did not know what one’s background was.

Leopold and Marie divorced then he married Regina Adriana Gemma Van Der Kraan 13 May 1966 the Hague, a non-Jewish lady, daughter of Petrus Adrianus Van Der Kraan and Regina Stiefelhagen
