Name • •
Lettie Simpson

Reason This Information Is Correct:
.Her name is Lettie, not Lydia And she was born in Pasquotank County, NOT Surry; her daughter Lydia Adams was the one who was born in Surry [actually in adjacent Rowan County] and that's where the confusion arose. And she wasn't born to Samuel Simpson; she was born to his brother Benjamin, who is the one who moved to Rowan County. Samuel and his wife Mary never lived anywhere near Rowan or Surry County. It's all in the census records. And her gravestone does NOT say Lydia; there are no markings on her stone; it's a blank stone.

The owner of her Find A Grave memorial had included the erroneous Lydia name on her memorial, but it's not on the stone.
