Lewies (known as Louis) (83) and his wife, Cecilia Gesie Beëlsibie Gouws (known as Elsa) (69), were beaten with a rock and hacked with an axe, in their home in the small town in little Karoo, on 2nd February 2002.
Police spokesperson, Inspector Neels Lerm, said blood and signs of a struggle were found on the porch. The couple were unconscious, but still alive. A bloodied axe and rock, presumably used in the attack, were found at the scene. Cecelia was lying next to the open front door with multiple slashes and contusions, and Lewies a few steps further in the garden. He died later during emergency treatment at Lamprecht clinic in George.
Three men from the area were apprehended shortly after the incident and are being questioned.
