The connection of Leyzer Margulies as son of Naftali is subject to question due to the the birth of Leyzer's son Aron http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/72/185/0/-/62/skan/full/Pbz5-cHU5JC5H0rQ...
This record creates a problem because it was registered in 1822 and the birth occured in 1817 almost 10 years before Naftali's father, Aron Margulies Aron Margulies died. We know Aron is still alive in 1828 because he signed the marriage record of his son Dawid Icek.
There are possible explanations for this anamoly that would still allow the relationship to be valid: there are some who have contended that this branch of the Margulies family was, in fact, Sephardic. The other possibility is that we do not know the Hebrew name of either of the two Aron's and they could be different.
His name on wife's tombstone is Elazar, where it is noted that he was for 40 years the Gabbay of the Jewish Hospital. Jehiel Michel Joseph is the name in Neil Rosenstein's The Unbroken Chain.
