Lieut. John M. Brown

John Brown served in the Union Army during the American Civil War in Company A, 31st Illinois Infantry Regiment. He entered service on 15 Aug 1861 and mustered in on 18 Sep 1861 in Cairo, IL. with the rank or Corporal. Promoted to Full Sergeant. Promoted to Full 2nd Lieutenant on 18 Jul 1865, but mustered out on 19 Jul 1865 in Louisville, KY as a Sergeant.
