Lt Silas Chadbourne (or Chadbourn) (8 AUG 1752 Berwick, York, Maine - 15 June 1823 Gorham, Cumberland, Maine).

Silas Chadbourn was a tailor. He enlisted as a private in Captain Hart Williams' Company of Colonel Phinney's Regiment of the Massachusetts line and Continental establishment, serving as a soldier for 8 months. He served 1 year as a sergeant in Captain Bryant Morton's Company and Colonel Mitchell's Regiment at Falmouth, Cumberland County, Massachusetts. As of 1 Jan 1777, he was a Lieutenant in the Eleventh Massachusetts Regiment. He was discharged on 3 Mar 1780. At age 69 her was in Gorham, Lieutenant, Mayberry's Company. He was in the battles of Hubbardston, Saratoga, Stillwater, Monmouth, Valley Forge, and at surrender was an exchanged prisoner of war. He kept a diary while in the army, which was extant in 1903 He died destitute living on the charity of others.

Lt Silas Chadbourne's mother was Phebe Hobbs (19 Sep 1722 or 1724 Berwick, York, Maine - 6 Aug 1807 Waterboro, York, Maine) the daughter of Capt James Hobbs (1699 – 1769) and Rebecca Garland (1699 – 1767).

On 23 Jun 1775 in Berwick, York, Maine, Lt Silas Chadbourne married first Abigail Crockett (10 Apr 1758 Gorham, Cumberland, Maine - 15 Aug 1813 Gorham, Cumberland, Maine) the daughter of Samuel Haley Crockett (1717 – 1798) and Priscilla Swett (1729 – 1763).

4) Nahum Chadbourne, Deacon (5 Apr 1784 in Gorham, Cumberland, Maine - 6 Aug 1857 in Gorham, Cumberland, Maine)

5) Samuel Chadbourne (born 21 Apr 1786 in Gorham, Cumberland, Maine - 28 Feb 1861 in North Yarmouth, Cumberland, Maine) married Jane Buxton.

6) Martha Chadbourne (14 APR 1788 in Otisfield, Cumberland, Maine - 1 OCT 1869 in Otisfield, Cumberland, Maine) married Richard Edwards, Jr.

On 24 Jun 1819 in Gorham, Cumberland, Maine, Lt Silas Chadbourne married second Lucy Roberts (10 Dec 1767 Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland, Maine - 4 Sep 1842 Gorham, Cumberland, Maine) the daughter of Joseph Roberts (1745 – 1767) and Hannah Freeman (1745 –). Lt Silas Chadbourne had no children with Lucy Roberts. Lucy Roberts was widow of Peter Sevier and Peletiah Crockett (three children with Peletiah and Lucy). Lucy married fourth Richard Edwards the year after Lt Silas Chadbourne died.
