Lt. Col. Joakim von Rohr

Lieutenant Colonel Joachim von Rohr (1678-1757) was taken prisoner by the Russians during the Siege of Viborg in 1710 and interred in Siberia. When he returned to Sweden he became the commander of the Dalarö fortress. (b. January 23, 1677/1678, Svida, Sweden - d. November 19, 1757; Dalarö, Sweden)

Parents: He was the son of Hans Christoffer von Rohr (1626/1627-1700) who died at Narva, in Sweden (now Estonia). His mother was Anna Catharina Cronman (1658-1685) who would later die in childbirth. She was 31 years younger if the record is correct.

Birth: January 23, 1677/1678 in Sweden.

Marriage: He married Catharina Charlotta Klingenberg (1680-1758) on February 4, 1699/1600 in Sweden.

Children: Anna Elisabeth Von Rohr (1701-1744) who married Anders Örbom (1675-1740); Lucia Dorotea Von Rohr (1702); Lunetta Von Rohr II (1704-1764) who married Gustaf Adolf Clodt (1692-1738); Helena Von Rohr (1706-1780); Hans Christoffer Von Rohr III (1708-1790); Magnus Joakim Von Rohr (1710-1722); Brita Maria Von Rohr (1711-1762) who married Herman Ross (1707-1777); Catharina Charlotta Von Rohr (1714-1784) who married Jacob Daniel Mether (1718-1769); Christina Dorothea Von Rohr (1717-1800); Gustaf Johan Von Rohr (1723-1739); and Maria Margareta Von Rohr (1725-1778) who married Gustaf Mannerstedt (1713-1756).

Battle of Poltova: Joachim Von Rohr was taken prisoner by the Russians during the Great Northern War at the Siege of Viborg and interred in Siberia with his family. His daughter would marry Anders Örbom I (1675-1740) Captain, in Solikamsk, Perm, Russia.

Death: November 19, 1757 in Dalarö, Sweden.

Research by Wayne Ohlsson: Wayne Ohlsson writes on Memorial Day, May 25, 2020: "Joachim von Rohr was major at Viborgs fort in the east of Finland. He lived there with his family. In about 1710 the Russians came and sieged the whole town of Viborg and the fort. They captured Joachim, his wife Anna Charlotta Klingenberg and their 4 children. Anna Elisabet, 18 years was the oldest. The Russians took them all the family to Siberia. It was not easy for them and I have seen a letter in which Joachim himself tells that they got some help from "the rich baron Struganof". [Anna Elisabeth Örbom was buried at] Humpis, Nådendal, Åbo/Turku, Finland.

Han gjorde under Viborgs belägring 1710 majorstjänst och blev s. å. 10/6 vid stadens övergång rysk krigsfånge samt förd till Puisgorod, varifrån han ej hemkom förrän 1722 eller efter fredsslutet.
