Lieutenant Colonel John Dumaresq

Biography

Lieutenant Colonel John Dumaresq was born on February 18, 1759 in St. Hellier, Jersey, Channel Islands. His parents were John Dumaresq and Rachael Dumaresq (Bandinel).

John married Ann Dumaresq (Jones) on August 30, 179 in Chelsea.

Together they had the following children:

• Captain William John Dumaresq;
• Elizabeth Darling (Dumaresq);
• Lieutenant Colonel Henry Dumaresq;
• Marianne Boissier (Dumaresq);
• Captain Edward Dumaresq;
• Amelia Dumaresq.

He died on March 5, 1804 in Worcester, Worcestershire, England.

Colonel John Dumaresq, who is buried in Worcester Cathedral, served throughout the American war, and on account of his services rendered to the British Government during that war, his sons were educated at Great Marrow (Sandhurst), and were given commissions in the army. He married Anne Jones:

• I. Henry, lieutenant-colonel H.M. army, and afterwards chief commissioner of the Australian Agriculture.
• II. William John, captain Royal Staff Corps
• II. Captain Edward Dumaresq, R.E., of Mount Ireh, Hadspen, Tasmania, and of St. Heliers, East Kew, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
