POULDEN, John was a Lieutenant in Royal Navy Marines in NSW first settlement in Sydney. He arrived on the First Fleet ship 'Charlotte'. He married Mary Mitchell who had arrived as a convict on the First Fleet 'Lady Penrhyn', she was 19 and convicted of stealing. After his service he returned to England with his freed wife and son.
