Lieutenant John Poulden [Marine "Charlotte" "Prince of Wales" 1788]

John POULDEN was a 1st Lieutenant - Royal Marines

John left England on "Charlotte" and arrived in Sydney Cove on 26/1/1788 on "Prince of Wales"

John married Mary MITCHELL and they had the following children

John left the colony on 5/12/1792 with wife Mary and son John (although his son John MITCHELL joined the Navy in 1804)

John died March 1814

POULDEN, John was a Lieutenant in Royal Navy Marines in NSW first settlement in Sydney. He arrived on the First Fleet ship 'Charlotte'. He married Mary Mitchell who had arrived as a convict on the First Fleet 'Lady Penrhyn', she was 19 and convicted of stealing. After his service he returned to England with his freed wife and son.
