Thomas Small ... received deed for Deer Isle Lot, from father-in-law,
Ebenezer Roberts of Royalsborough, 17 Oct 1777, acknowledged: 21 Sept 1789, recorded: 1 July 1801.
Deer Isle Maine_Small's Cove [Smaleys Cove; 1776 Map] was named
from the two brothers of that name who settled near it.
Mr. Thomas Small lived on the northern, and Mr. Job Small on the southern, side.

"VI. Thomas b. about 1741, in Falmouth. The marriage intention of "Thomas Small & Sarah Roberts, both of Falmouth," was recorded May 15, 1762;* they were mar. March 10, 1763, by Rev. Ephraim Clark. Sarah ^ Roberts probably was daughter to Ebenezer* and Sarah (Elwell) Roberts, of Falmouth.+ The connection was not so apparent when the family of Ebenezer* was written, as it is now, or Sarah would have been mentioned with the other children. Thomas Small removed to Deer Isle, about 1767 ; he settled " near the bar which lies across the mouth of what is now known as Small's Cove," on land which was occupied, in 1905, by his great-grandson, Enoch Small.
Thomas Small (also given Smawley) served, in the Revolutionary war,
as " 2d Lieutenant, Capt. Thomas Roben's [Capt. Thomas Robbins's] (4th) CO. [Deer Island Plantation],
Col. Jonathan Buck's (5th Lincoln Co.) regt. of Mass. militia; list of ofiicers chosen
in said regiment; ordered in Council July 23, 1776, that said officers
be commissioned; reported commissioned July 23, 1776." §

1. Mary", b. Jan. 10, 1764, in Falmouth. She was married to Micajah Lunt, of Newburyport ; she d. in 1859, in Deer Isle.
2. Thomas", b. May 9, 1768, in Deer Isle. He mar. Jan. 1, 1793, in Deer Isle, Anna Saunders, daughter to Thomas and Hepzibah (Chase) Saunders.

Biography
Thomas Small ... received deed for Deer Isle Lot, from father-in-law,
Ebenezer Roberts of Royalsborough, 17 Oct 1777, acknowledged: 21 Sept 1789, recorded: 1 July 1801.
Deer Isle Maine_Small's Cove [Smaleys Cove; 1776 Map] was named
from the two brothers of that name who settled near it.
Mr. Thomas Small lived on the northern, and Mr. Job Small on the southern, side.

"VI. Thomas b. about 1741, in Falmouth. The marriage intention of "Thomas Small & Sarah Roberts, both of Falmouth," was recorded May 15, 1762;* they were mar. March 10, 1763, by Rev. Ephraim Clark. Sarah ^ Roberts probably was daughter to Ebenezer* and Sarah (Elwell) Roberts, of Falmouth.+ The connection was not so apparent when the family of Ebenezer* was written, as it is now, or Sarah would have been mentioned with the other children. Thomas Small removed to Deer Isle, about 1767 ; he settled " near the bar which lies across the mouth of what is now known as Small's Cove," on land which was occupied, in 1905, by his great-grandson, Enoch Small.
Thomas Small (also given Smawley) served, in the Revolutionary war,
as " 2d Lieutenant, Capt. Thomas Roben's [Capt. Thomas Robbins's] (4th) CO. [Deer Island Plantation],
Col. Jonathan Buck's (5th Lincoln Co.) regt. of Mass. militia; list of ofiicers chosen
in said regiment; ordered in Council July 23, 1776, that said officers
be commissioned; reported commissioned July 23, 1776." §
Thomas Small died March 23, 1827, in Deer Isle. Issue:
1. Mary", b. Jan. 10, 1764, in Falmouth. She was married to Micajah Lunt, of Newburyport ; she d. in 1859, in Deer Isle.
2. Thomas", b. May 9, 1768, in Deer Isle. He mar. Jan. 1, 1793, in Deer Isle, Anna Saunders, daughter to Thomas and Hepzibah (Chase) Saunders.

His wife died 'nearly the same time as her husband'. Thomas served in the French and Indian War at Fort Pownal. He also seved in the Rev. War. At the age of 75y in 1813, he rowed into Small's Cove under heavy British gunfire to pilot an American privateer within range of a grounded British warship. He came to Deer Isle c 1765."
