About Lilias Saunders
Lilias did not feature on the Buchanan tree passed down her brother William's family. Baptism and birth dates from "Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950," index, "FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XTKM-C28 : accessed 03 Jan 2013), Archibald Buchanan in entry for Lilias Buchanan, 02 Nov 1829; citing reference 2:16FPQ7W, FHL microfilm 1041390."
A transcript of the census of 1841 (found on Ancestry) lists a female child in the family called 'Jullies', who is 11. As there are a number of transcription errors, this could be Lilias.
A passenger list shows that Lilias Buchanan (24), described as a 'housemaid', arrived with Joseph Buchanan (33) and his wife Margaret (32) in Tasmania in April 1855 to work for Alex Learmonth. Two years later she is listed as introducing Robert Buchanan (20) to the colony.
Marriage and death found on Ancestry.
