About Lisbeth Oestreicher
If I remember correctly, she was the one to raise Helli and her sister after the war. They were hidden near us, in Blaricum. The girls were blond, with plaits tied over their heads, and maybe blue-eyed. Mariedel, as my stepfather called her, had been in the same school as my stepfather in Vienna. She took a lot of pictures of me, some of which I still have. One was even published ,in the war, as an ad for Maizena Durea. In the sixties, I met her again at a party in Amsterdam, and this time she took a picture of my eldest daughter. But I did not recognize her then, nor did she recognize me.
