Liúva II (583-603) was a young son of Recaredo I, king of the Visigoths of Toledo from 601 to 603.[1][2][3] He succeeded Recaredo I[1][2][3] at just 18 years old.
In spring 602, the Visigoth Viteric, one of the conspirators who, with Sunna of Merida, wanted to re-establish Arianism in 589, was appointed commander of the army in the campaign to expel the Byzantines from Betica. Instead of starting the campaign, Viterico used the army to carry out a coup d'état: he invaded the palace in Toledo and deposed the young king (603), having been supported by a faction of nobles opposed to the dynasty of Leovigildo. Viteric cut off the king's right hand and later had him killed in summer 603.
