His first wife Julia E. Simms died in 1912. Julia was buried in the Seay Cemetery. Their son Roy was raised by William and Etta Pearl Pritchett.

He registered for the draft (WWI) on June 5, 1917. Listed as an exemption from the war " Yes, Dependent family" Father, Mother & Child.  Registor stated "Farther & mother not dependent. He was single and 30 and had one child. Funeral notice taken from " Free Lance Star" Fredericksburg newspapers Lloyd L. Seay Lloyd Linwood Seay, 76 of Spotsylvania died Saturday, 25 May 1963 at Mary Washington Hospital.  Mr. Seay was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Etta Pearl Seay; two daughters, Mrs. Julia Dillard and Mrs. Hazel Sorrell both of Spotsylvania; seven sons, Roy, Joh, Delton, Arthur, Vivian, Sam and Horace Seay, all of Spotsylvania; a brother, Herman Seay of Spotsylvania; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Quarles and Mrs. Otis Seay, both of Spotsylvania, 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 P.M. at Wheeler & Thompson Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert F. Ellis officiating.  Interment will be in Mine Road Church cemetery, Spotsylvania County. Pallbearers will be Horace Mastin, John Mastin, Frank Williamson, John W.
