WWI Veteran - John Gilbert Holloway writes, Uncle Logan was in the Soldier's and Sailor's Home in Xenia, Ohio along with Uncle Owen, Leonard, Aunts Alice and Emma when their father Jackson (Civil War)died in 1905. When they got out of the Home when they were 18 they went to Cleveland, Ohio. I can remember the stories that Owen went, then Logan and then my Dad, Leonard. I don't know about my Aunts. Once Uncle Owen got there, he made provisions for Uncle Logan and my Dad. Uncle Owen went to WWI and become Gen. Pershing's private telegraph operator, a skill that he had learned from the Home. Uncle Logan was in WWI also but I do not know the details. When he died in 1952 he left me enough money to help me through 4 years at Grove City College. He also lived with us on the farm from time to time. My father was to young for WWI and to old for WWII. Aunt Alice as a young lady worked at Hotel Conneaut Lake, so I remember my Dad telling me.
