Child of Lord Thomas Grey

Margaret Grey+1 Married: John (Astley) ASHLEY (Sir) ABT 1581

Do not confuse Thomas Gray of Harwich, the father of John Gray and grandfather of Thomas Gray, with Lord Thomas Grey the son of the 2nd Marquess of Dorset who was executed for treason in 1555. Lord Thomas was of an entirely different social class, being the uncle of Lady Jane Grey, who was Queen of England for nine days, and he certainly was not the father of John Gray of Harwich.

Note:

In 1554 Lord John Grey and Lord Thomas Grey, & Suffolk took part in Wyatt's rebellion against Mary I's marriage to Philip of Spain and in support of Lady Jane Grey.[29]

When this rebellion failed, all three were arrested, and Suffolk and his brother Thomas were executed,[29] as were Lady Jane herself and her husband Lord Guilford Dudley.[28]

She was styled as Marchioness of Dorset upon her marriage.
