About Lord of Angle William De Angulo
Ormond Deeds #2 showing land granted to William de Anglo by Strongbow himself, in Carlow, naming him as oldest son of Gocelyn, aka Jocylin De Angulo, and his brothers Jordan , Walter and Gilbert as witnesses. Also listed as witnesses are the whole Geraldine or Fitzgerald clan, the De Birminghams, these were the main group all from St David’s in Pembrokeshiire, Wales, where the Invasion of Ireland departed from in 1169, not far from Angle, the home territory of the De Anglo or De Angulo clan. The History of Pembroke says the invasion ships actually departed from Angle Bay, and this Deed would reflect that importance, since it is the second deed listed.
