Died April 6, 2005
FRANKFORT - Lorraine passed into the arms of our Lord on April 6, 2005, at the Long Term Care Unit of Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 28, 1928, in Northport.
As a youngster, Lorraine fondly remembered the many hours she spent gathering stones from the shores of Lake Michigan for her father, Nels. Nels used the stones to construct the porch on the Point Bestie Lighthouse and for various flower pots that can still be seen in the Frankfort area.
In 1946, she graduated from Frankfort High School and went on to take classes at County Normal and Central Michigan University. In 1948, she married Thomas Zatkovic and moved to Owosso. While there, she was a teacher at a small country school and gave birth to two sons, Tom and Lee. She divorced Tom in 1960.
In 1961, she married Keith Hollenbeck and returned to Frankfort. Keith had one son, Mike, and together they had another son, Kevin.
She retired after many years of work at Pet Milk. During her retirement years she enjoyed traveling to Arizona and Florida. Her hobbies included knitting, playing cards, Bingo and going to athletic events that her grandchildren were in.
Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Keith D. Hollenbeck; stepson, Michael (Nancy) Hollenbeck; sons, Kevin (Kris) Hollenbeck, Tom (Cheryl) Zatkovic and Lee Zatkovic; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Augusta (Johnson) Nelson; brothers, Melvin, Stanley and Floyd; and sisters, Wilma Vicent and Elvesta Fredrick.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April, 9, 2005, at 1 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Reverend Rick Stieve officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in Crystal Lake Township Cemetery North.
