About Stanley Knute Nelson

Services were held for Stanley Knute Nelson Dec. 12 at the Assembly of God Church in Caruthersville. Mr. Nelson, 60, died at his home in Caruthersville Dec. 9, 1979. Mr. Nelson was born in Northport, Mich., on March 7, 1919, to the late Nels A. and Agusta Johnson Nelson. He attended school in Frankfort, Mich. On May 27, 1938, he enlisted in the Coast Guard, receiving an honorable discharge on May 26, 1941. He reenlisted at the outbreak of the Second World War on Jan. 8, 1942, and served until again honorable discharged on Feb. 8, 1946. Mr. Nelson moved to Caruthersville from Frankfort in July 1977. He married Mrs. Juanita J. Higgerson on September 21, 1977, in Caruthersville. He was a member of the Crystal Lodge No. 270 F & AM of Frankfort and the Lodge Council Consistory, Valley of Grand Rapids, Mich. Mr. Nelson was a member of the Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife; two step-sons, Ronald and Donald Higgerson, both of Sikeston; two brothers, Melvin of Ludington, Mich., and Floyd of Frankfort; three sisters, Mrs. Lorraine Hallenback of Frankfort, Mrs. Wilma Vincent and Mrs. Elvesta Fredrick, both of Largo, Fla. Pallbearers were Raymond Jordan, Bobby Guest, Paul Faulkner, Willis Williams, J.D. Robinson and Albert Cravens. Military services were conducted by the Morturary Division from Blytheville AFB at Little Prairie Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Griffin officiated. H.S.
