Brief overview:
Lorraine (65), was killed and her husband wounded by armed robbers in Roossenekal, Limpopo police said on Wednesday. Three men entered a house at 21:00 on Tuesday and overpowered a few people who were watching television, Lieutenant Colonel Ronel Otto said. Sydney Peters, 67, and his wife Lorraine were woken in their room by the commotion.
As they walked down the passage to investigate, several shots were fired at them.
"Lorraine died on the scene after she was hit in the head and chest. Her husband sustained bullet wounds to the left hand and leg." Otto said.
He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The robbers took three cellphones, a laptop and jewellery.
The Peters were sharing the house near the De Hoop Dam with other families. They were the employees of a company doing construction work on the dam.
